The
snow has melted, grass turns slowly greener and the weather alternates between
pleasant and rainy. Spring is in the air and now it's official!
As
the days are lengthening and the sun is strengthening we all start to yearn for
leisure. No wonder because suddenly we no longer wake up to grayness, but with
the sun's rays glittering on our faces. Finally!
So
what to do when the snowstorm is behind our back and the light summer breeze on
the horizon?
Here
are some tips you can, pardon me, should do in spring:
1. IT'S SPRING CLEANING TIME
I
know, I know, it's harsh to begin with this task, but it truly is essential.
Now is the right time to get rid of the clutter and put your house into tip-top
shape. Believe me, when you're done, you'll be proud of yourself! So turn the
music on at full blast and sweep, scrub, mop, vacuum! Also, clean out your
closet and make a little room for all of the new arrivals you're bound to buy
this spring (is it just me or does it suddenly seem more worthy and
rewarding?!). And don't forget to make your home smell like spring - flower
arrangements calling!
2. GO TO A FARMER'S MARKET
Honestly,
I've been waiting for farmers markets the whole winter. It's something I am
looking forward to the most when spring arrives! I visit almost every Saturday
morning a farmer's market to buy fresh veggies, fruit and other goodies. If
you're not farmer's market crazy like I am, I dare you to go there at least
once a month. From garden-fresh fruits and vegetables, to baked goods, crafts
and flowers, there’s not much one can’t find. YAY FARMERS MARKETS!
3. COOK LIGHT AND
FRESH
Bring
some springtime sunshine into your cooking. Don't be afraid to try something
new and play with the yummy ingredients. You can get inspiration everywhere you
look - find recipes, tips and fresh spring produce and brighten up your meals.
Oh and treat yourself with a light, fruity dessert! Mmmmm, goodie!
4. HAVE A PICNIC AT THE PARK
What’s
not to love about sitting out in nature, enjoying some company and a plate full
of tasty food? Grab your family or friends and go picnicking! Bake, cook or
simply bring some delicious food and have fun. Basically, the ideal picnic is
nothing more than choosing a great location, inviting a group of people you
enjoy spending time with, bringing some quilts to sit on, and packing some
delicious food and drinks. Tell me, what's holding you back?
5. JUMP TO SPRING AND KEEP IT MOVING
Jog,
ride a bike, walk in the nature, play golf, go horse riding or do something
else you love and what keeps you moving. Ask friends if they want to join you -
however, doing sport on your own is the best way to clear your head!
Log
off, shut down, GO RUN!
6. SPRING SPRING SPRING
It's spring time, so do whatever comes along with it! You can plant something green, sit OUTSIDE at a café, look for four-leaf clovers, dance in rain and jump in puddles, climb a tree, feed the beautiful swans on the lake, plan a spring break with your buddies, GO TO A FESTIVAL, spot a rainbow, wear dresses, visit the zoo... and there's much much more to do in spring!
“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.”- Charles Dickens, Great Expectations
Guys, I wish you the most wonderful magical spring 2015!
LET THE SPRING BEGIN.
